We are the “voice” of the refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump industry in Europe

Through its more than 20 years of existence, EPEE has established itself as the industry’s voice at both the EU and national level. We participate in the European political, regulatory and legislative decision-making process at the earliest stage possible and raise awareness around the environmental and societal benefits of our technologies.

Examples of EU dossiers in which we are currently involved include the F-Gas Regulation, REACH, the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Directives and the Ecodesign and Energy Labelling Agenda.

We face upcoming regulatory challenges

Despite EPEE’s many successes, there are still many challenges on the horizon for our industry. The EU Regulation on certain fluorinated gases was a milestone but “Making F-gas Regulation a success” is still one of our biggest priorities to ensure a predictable and sustainable future for refrigerants in Europe. In that regard, we are also closely following the “PFAS” initiative under the EU REACH Regulation.

The RACHP industry is above all a key solution provider for the green energy transition. The European Green Deal with its aim to make Europe climate neutral by 2050 will necessitate a massive transformation of the Heating & Cooling Sector. EPEE is heavily involved in issues such as energy efficiency, renewable energy, ecolabelling, waste & recycling, and ecodesign, all of which have significant implications for the design and the markets  of RACHP products.

We aim to keep tackling these major debates in the years to come and demonstrate that our industry is committed to ‘do its part’ on climate change and other environment-related issues.

We provide our members with a seat at the European policy table

Our members get the chance to directly contribute and participate in our actions through our different Working Groups and Task Forces. Our association works ‘by its members, for its members’. In other words, being a member gives you the chance to get your voice heard at the EU policy table through a well-organised and recognised coalition.
