Market Surveillance Workshop – 7 May 2014

07 / 05 / 2014

With a new Blue Guide recently published and a Market Surveillance Regulation to be soon adopted by the European Parliament, market surveillance is a cornerstone of the success of ambitious EU energy policies, with a particular focus on Ecodesign and Energy Labelling Directives.

Yet, market surveillance remains subject to much questioning on what should be the focus, how should it work, who should be responsible, or even why Europe needs market surveillance.

To contribute to this debate, EPEE held a workshop entitled “Market surveillance in Europe – the myths, the reality, the solutions” on 7 May 2014 in Brussels.

During the workshop a number of interesting ideas were discussed regarding how to improve Market Surveillance.

The focus was on the facilitating role the European Commission can play in improving cooperation between Member States.

There was also a discussion about how to incorporate more specific market surveillance information and to make better use of private certification programs by market surveillance authorities.

The outcome and conclusions from the workshop can be found here – in the meantime, if you want to find out more about EPEE and our future events please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
