The IIR is hosting its International Conference Rankine 2020 online from Monday 27 to Friday 31 July 2020.
The IIR International Conference Rankine 2020 – Applications of Cooling, Heating and Power Generation will be an interactive online event held over 5 days.
Why you should attend
Over five days delegates will explore research and developments in the closely related fields of power cycles, working fluids and RACHP applications. They will take away insights into new opportunities to deliver efficient, sustainable and environmentally friendly solutions.
In the 150 years since William Rankine developed his power generation cycle the world has changed enormously, both in terms of the technology available and the political landscape. Sustainability and environmental issues are now a major issue and a driving force behind legislation.
In an era where there is increasing demand for energy, while at the same time fossil fuels are being phased out, Rankine’s power generation cycles will only become more important. While William Rankine would recognise the underlying science that is currently in use, the application of his technology is vastly different. This conference will spend time exploring the legacy of William Rankine, looking at his ground-breaking research to see what modern engineering can learn from this great Victorian innovator. It will also look to the future and offer a forum where the different disciplines of power generation, refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pumps can come together to discuss their common challenges and learn from each other about the different solutions that are being developed to tackle them.
