Eco-design Directive
In 2005 the European Commission adopted the Framework Directive for Ecodesign requirements for energy using products (EuP). This directive was revised in 2009 and now covers energy related products (ErP) as well.
This Directive sets specific minimum energy requirements for selected product groups via implementing measures following a Working Plan established by the European Commission. The energy label requirements require that products carry a label indicating their energy consumption.
EPEE has been identified as a main stakeholder by the European Commission and is actively contributing to the ecodesign process by providing technical knowledge and industry data.
EPEE’s members are active in more than 10 ecodesign lots covering specific product groups and are committed to actively promote the use of more energy efficient and environmental products. Please see our most recent position papers on ENER Lot 1 (boilers) and ENER Lot 12 (refrigerated display cabinets) for more information.
